Celebrating 25 Years!

Evergreen Senior Living is proudly celebrating its 25th anniversary this year with a theme that reflects its long-standing mission: Rooted in Care. Since opening its doors,Evergreen has grown into a vibrant community built on compassion, dedication, and a remarkable tradition of staff longevity.

A key part of that story is Assisted Living Director Terri Langevin, who has been part of Evergreen since the very beginning. Langevin began working with the organization in August of 2000, helping prepare for the opening of Evergreen Knoll Assisted Living, which officially welcomed its first residents in February of 2001. She opened the doors alongside then-Registered Nurse Ginger McKean, helping establish the warm, resident-centered culture that still defines Evergreen today.

Over the years, Evergreen Senior Living has expanded to meet the evolving needs of older adults and their families. In 2006, Evergreen added the Evergreen Cottages, a neighborhood of 24 beautifully designed homes that offer comfortable, independent-style living. Each cottage features one-level living, vaulted ceilings, screened-in porches,

and attached garages, providing residents with both convenience and a sense of home.

The community continued to grow in 2009 with the addition of Evergreen Suites, designed to provide higher levels of care and specialized memory care services. Today, three branches — Evergreen Knoll Assisted Living, Evergreen Cottages, and Evergreen Suites — operate together under the Evergreen Senior Living umbrella, creating a full continuum of care within one supportive community.

One of the qualities that truly sets Evergreen apart is the longevity and dedication of its staff. Many team members have spent years, and even decades, caring for residents. For example, Resident Assistant Phyllis Filipiak has been part of the Evergreen team since 2002. Numerous other staff members have also built long and meaningful careers within the organization.

Evergreen has also played a careers for many young people. Over the years, students working at Evergreen while attending school have gone on to pursue nursing and other professions. Two examples are Keagen Niemi, RN, and Kayla Bober, LPN, who both began their journeys at Evergreen as Resident Assistants and now serve in the nursing department.

Leadership continuity is another strength. Clinical Nurse Supervisor Julie Jones, RN, has been with Evergreen since 2018, helping guide the nursing team and maintain the high standard of care that residents and families have come to trust.

Families frequently comment on the quality and compassion of Evergreen’s staff. Langevin says she couldn’t agree more.

“We are truly blessed,” she said. “The people who work here care deeply about the residents and about each other. That makes all the difference.”

Equally special are the residents themselves. According to Langevin, the Evergreen community is known for its welcoming spirit. Residents regularly go out of their way to greet newcomers, share their talents, and offer kindness and friendship that help make Evergreen feel like home.

After 25 years, Evergreen Senior Living continues to thrive—rooted in care, strengthened by its people, and committed to serving seniors for many years to come.
